How to read the numbers
Use the tools as planning instruments, not quotations. For API costs, create more than one workload scenario and replace example rates with the provider’s current price before committing spend. For Local AI, choose the model and workload before choosing hardware; memory requirements can change with quantization and context. For business ROI, value time conservatively and include review work, because a fast draft that requires extensive correction may not save much time.
Each result becomes more useful when you keep the uncertainty visible. A calculator that says “about $30” is stronger when you can see which assumptions produce $15, $30 or $80.
